Watch your feet

The biodiversity around the Reserve isn't limited to the bigger inhabitants. If you look closely when you are walking around you'll see a wide range of smaller plants that are equally important to the ecology of the site.

The Reserve is a fragment of the Temperate Celtic Rainforest, which is a rare and threatened environment.

The understory provides the perfect habitat for a wide range of mosses.

The high air quality also provides a perfect habitat for lichens to grow high up in the trees (i.e. as epiphytes).

So, next time you are walking around the Reserve take a moment to look closely at the smaller residents. You'll be surprised what you can find.
