Rhododendron

Volunteer's enemy number 1. The land around the Reserve is widely colonised by uncontrolled Rhododendrons. Seedlings constantly spread back into the Reserve. The seedlings need to be pulled up when young, or dug up with mattocks if established. Uprooted plants should have the soil shaken off and kept off the ground so that they do not re-root. Rhododendrons may be sprayed if they spread too densely.
